How to get a good workout on an elliptical machine?

I am about 129 pounds and i plan on going on the elliptical machine for 30-45 minutes four days a week. Do you know what levels i should set it on and what kind of routine i should use? thanks :)How to get a good workout on an elliptical machine?
Intervals are one of the most effective ways to burn fat. So start out at a sustainable pace for 5 minutes as a warm up. Then go fast and hard for 1-2 minutes. Then drop back to your good pace for 2-3 minutes. Repeat. Keep your heart rate up; that is the key.
