How long is it safe to leave baby in swing?

My son is 8 weeks and some days he never wants to be put down! I have a two year old too and it is just not possible to hold him all the time. He will sleep in his swing with the vibrator on and it on the highest swing setting. How long can I leave him in there?

Also, would you let a 8 week old CIO? My husband thinks he just needs to cry sometimes but I can't handle it. It's one thing if I'm helping my daughter in the bathroom or in the shower but when I'm trying to do the dishes I can't just let him cry. It gives me the worst anxiety when he is screaming his head off.

One more thing...how do you de-stress, during the day and at the end of the day? I don't drink, so thats not an option.

well, you say you already have a two year old, so I assume you have parenting experience? I wouldnt keep an 8 week old in the swing for more than 1/2 an hour, even if he's sleeping. He will get used to the swinging and vibrations and may count on it to sleep all the time. It's hard to manage a toddler and a newborn, but the crying it out has to be age appropriate. Some babies need to cry a bit more than others before they settle in. Most times, babies cry to alert you to something... whether they're hungry, tired or want social time..they may cry. You will learn quickly the difference between a hungry cry and a tired cry.How long is it safe to leave baby in swing?
You don't want Baby to sleep in a swing or vibrating seat because he'll begin to depend on those things to fall asleep. As soon as we got home from the hospital I started %26quot;training%26quot; my daughter in proper behaviors. She wasn't held too much and got plenty of independent time, when it was time for nap she was laid down in her crib or bassinet. Letting them cry it out is the best thing for Baby, even though it's difficult for you. Let him cry in at least 5 min. intervals so he doesn't learn that he'll be picked up every time he cries. At night if he needs a bottle or diaper change, keep it quiet: don't talk to or play with him, and keep the lights dim. Then after he eats and has been changed put him right back to bed. I promise this works! My daughter sleeps 12 hours every night and has since she was 3 weeks old. When it's time for her nap, we just lay her down in her crib, give her her pacifier, and she goes right to sleep. And she never cries wanting to be held. You can do it, Mom, I believe in you!How long is it safe to leave baby in swing?
I let my son sleep in his swing but a nurse said that you have to make sure that there head isn't down in there chest because they can suffocate that way. They say don't let them just cry for more than 10 mins. I stay at home all day with him and it can be very stressful trying to get things done during the day plus take care of him. I always put him to bed around 9 and then I stay up till 12 just to have a few hours to myself and that's how I de-stress.
